Practical Training for Job Coaches & Employment Specialists who Support People with Disabilities
While we can easily agree that individuals with significant disabilities ought to be employed, it is often skilled and knowledgeable job coaches and employment specialists who make their success a reality. And the work sounds simple enough; just provide needed supports in the right fashion & amount at just the right time, then the magic happens and the worker becomes (and stays) securely employed, right? It would be so simple if everyone needed the same kind of assistance! But variable factors like skill and experience levels, disability challenges, demands of the job, available resources on-site and off, disclosure choices, and reasonable accommodations necessitate an individualized approach to providing support to both the new employee and her coworkers and supervisor. Successful job coaches and employment specialists have a wide range of approaches and strategies from which to draw. This training will help you build your job coaching toolbox.
